
Scholarship Requirements:
- Service Obligation and Repayment
Upon receiving a scholarship award from the Ceiba Foundation, each recipient shall execute a binding agreement providing that, upon graduation from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM) with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, or a related discipline, the recipient will engage in full-time employment in Puerto Rico for a minimum period of three (3) consecutive years immediately following graduation. - Duration and Renewal
The scholarship is awarded for a maximum term of five (5) academic years. Continuation beyond each academic year is contingent upon annual review and confirmation of satisfactory academic progress, as defined by UPRM policies and any additional standards established by the Foundation. The Foundation reserves sole discretion in determining eligibility for renewal. - Academic and Financial Standing
Recipients must remain in good academic and financial standing with UPRM at all times during the award period. Failure to maintain such standing may result in suspension or termination of scholarship benefits. - Coordination with Other Financial Aid
Recipients are required to apply for all available federal and state financial aid, including completion of the FAFSA. Any federal or state aid awarded shall first be applied to the recipient’s educational expenses, and the scholarship amount shall be correspondingly reduced. Funds reduced as a result of external aid shall be reallocated exclusively to support additional scholarship recipients.

Applicants must provide the following documentation:
- Official acceptance letter (“Certificado de Admisión”) from UPRM
- Completed FAFSA application
- Official high school transcript
- Three (3) letters of recommendation
Second-year applicants must submit official first-year university transcripts in lieu of high school transcripts.

- Obtain formal admission to the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.
- Complete and submit UPRM’s standard financial aid application and the FAFSA.
- Complete and submit the Ceiba Foundation Online Application.

The Ceiba Foundation has established an Engineering & Entrepreneurship Scholarship program to foster innovation and economic growth in Puerto Rico. This scholarship is designed to support Puerto Rican students pursuing undergraduate engineering degrees at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (RUM), by covering full tuition, living expenses, and other associated academic costs.
Scholarship Description:
The scholarship provides financial support for Puerto Rican students in undergraduate engineering programs at RUM. It covers tuition, books, materials, and certain living expenses (e.g., food and board) for up to five (5) years, from entry to graduation. Ttwo scholarships will be awarded: every year for incoming freshmen.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- First-Year Applicants: Must be formally admitted to RUM with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in STEM subjects during high school.
- Must have graduated from a public high school in Puerto Rico.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, born in Puerto Rico or born in the U.S. with parents born in Puerto Rico.
Scholarship Obligations:
- Service Requirement: Upon graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Entrepreneurship, recipients must work in Puerto Rico for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years. If this condition is not met, the full scholarship amount must be repaid.
- Duration: Scholarships are for a maximum of five (5) years, with annual renewal based on satisfactory academic progress.
- Good Standing: Recipients must remain in good academic and financial standing according to the Fundacion Ceiba and the university's policies.
- Federal Aid: Recipients may apply for federal or state financial aid during their studies. Any aid awarded will reduce the Ceiba Foundation scholarship amount and be reallocated to support additional students.

Application Process:
- Complete the Ceiba Foundation Online Application.
- Submit the Scholarship Application Form.
- Achieve formal admission status at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.
- Attach the standard financial aid application (PDF format) from the University of Puerto Rico.
- Send or upload the following documents:
- Verification of acceptance to the University of Puerto Rico.
- High school transcript (for first-year applicants) or first-year university transcript (for second-year applicants).
